For the grand opening of the new Adidas Flagship store on Shanghai's Nanjing Road, the world's largest sporting brand has commissioned one of Shanghai's hottest young visual artists, Lu Xinjian, to produce a painting that matches the energy of Asia's biggest city and the famous sportswear company. Taking a new approach to his usual aerial views of the city, Lu Xinjian has turned his view sideways to see the upward energy of this dynamic city and the racy curves of its elaborate road systems. With this new CITY STREAM style, his painting perfectly evokes the speed of both the growth of the urban structures, and the pace of the road system, which are unlike any other in Asia. His choice of brighter, more fluorescent colours also heralds a new direction in aesthetics and a new road along this most exciting young artist's career.
Adidas has also produced a special limited edition iPhone case for VIP guests featuring an early prototype of the commissioned work, a Shanghai CITY DNA version in similar colours.
